It’s time to Turn down the volume on the external BS and
turn up the volume on your Inner Knowing.
Present day proverbs about motherhood span from it being, “the most important job in the world,” to, “only ever full of joy and love,” and tell mothers to, “put the child above all else.”
I’m here to call bullshit on those old adages.
They set mothers up for burnout and disappointment, and they set children up to be entitled and self-centered.
Here’s what I propose instead:
The relationship you have with your Self
defines the relationship you have with your child.
Parenting is first and foremost about how you parent your Self.
How do you engage with your emotions?
Are your core values really your own, or did you adopt them decades ago and never re-examine them?
What do you do when you are feeling overwhelmed?
How do you take care of your Self physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually?
When do you set boundaries (do you even believe you’re allowed to)? How do you maintain them?
These are the kinds of questions that will lead you back to your Self…
and parenting from your Self is where conscious parenting truly begins.
